‘Gossip Girl’ Leighton Meester is one of Encino’s newest residents. Of course, she still spends most of her time in her New York apartment while filming the series. At a price tag of close to a million and a half, mid America expects to see a mansion. California prices may have bottomed out, just not to small city mid-America prices.
The house is quite nice and has some “to die for” features but it’s only 2,847 square feet, which is relatively small by celebrity real estate standards. While the front yard could use a bit of a facelift, the back yard is not only yummy; it’s the gourmet treat of this particular home.
There’s an outdoor dining area, lush foliage, a wet bar, a water feature and barbeque center. In addition, beside the pool, the cabana comes complete with a kitchen with full amenities and a bathroom beside the double changing area.
As we take a look inside the house, we feel that someone needs to grab a bucket of paint and a pair of rollers to help Ms. Meester out with that ghastly colored wall in the den. The room has bright red walls and a man painted in tighty whities. Please Leighton, tell me the color and painting came with the house. The shocking red walls don’t even fit with the rest of the decor.
Along the plus lines for the home, the hardwood floors throughout offer a comfortable and elegant appearance. While some hate the three deep almond walls of the living room, I believe it gives the room distinction and warmth. The color blends well with the hardwood floors, beige furniture, brown wall with the fireplace and white trim.
The kitchen is a bit smallish by most standards, but offers unique angles and some interesting decor. A convenient glass-topped breakfast bar separates the family room from the ‘dark granite counter topped’ and ‘stainless steel appliance’ kitchen. The family room is one of the most attractive rooms in the house with French doors that open to an outside dining area, a perfect addition for the California lifestyle.
