Mary Kay’s Dallas Mansion Hits Market For $3.3M

[one_fourth]Price: $3,300,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 11,874 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 6[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 8[/one_fourth_last]

If you’re prepared to write a $3.3 million dollar check for this Dallas, Texas estate, then get ready to park your pink Cadillac in the driveway of the home that used to belong to Mary Kay Ash, the Queen of Cosmetics. This pink palace is loaded with extras but you have to enjoy the color or it’s just not right for you.

The house comes replete with an entryway that would rival the Taj Mahal, lined with white columns against the pink backdrop and guarded by stone lions, the tall glass entryway welcomes all, peasant, pundit or prince.

The foyer is more of a lobby than a foyer in this 11,874 square foot home. Even the Queen of Cosmetics thought the house was too big and eventually moved back into her previous home, leaving the house to someone else with a penchant for pink. The foyer has a semi-spiraling staircase with white wrought-iron rails, a marble floor and white plush carpet on the stairs. The color? You guessed it—pale pink.

One of the sitting rooms breaks from the pink tradition of the home, with wooden walls, ceilings and hardwood flooring. The design of the embossed wooden walls and the high slightly arching windows is reminiscent of a castle in the times of King Arthur. Alas, there is no pink here.

The formal dining area, just off the foyer, follows through with the pink wall theme, but has high arched windows and white woodwork so it isn’t quite as noticeable. There are arches everywhere you look in this home. The hallway is a massively long arch with white pillars at the side. The windows are arched and even the entry ways to the rooms are arched. The hall at the top of the stairs, however, is not surrounded by an arched railing—that railing is arced.

Luckily, the kitchen is traditional—but big. It offers white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and an adjoining two story glass walled breakfast nook. If there’s any pink, it certainly is hidden.

Some people note that the theme of pink was taken to an extreme when they heard reports of a pink quartz toilet in the boudoir. However, if you look pretty in pink and have $3.3 million to throw around, this excessively pink mansion is up for sale.

Tori Spelling And Dean Buy Home in Malibu

[one_fourth]Price: $2,400,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 2,300 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 3[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 2.5[/one_fourth_last]

Just like actors are replaced after a few seasons on television shows, the house on the 2008-2011 reality show, “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood” has seen its last season. While the couple, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, purchased the property in 2008 for $2.945 million, they sold the property for $2.5 million in December and moved into their new Malibu house they purchased this fall. Many of the avid fans of the program were sad to see the home leave the program since it was one of the best actors and solid characters on the show.

The new $2.4 million home is in Malibu and offers far less room for the couple with a growing family. While it has 1.75 acres for expansion that has organic gardens and native landscaping, the square footage of the living quarters dropped from 6,718 square feet to 2,052 to 2300 square feet, depending on where you gather your facts.

Some sources show the new home at 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths while others show 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. Either way, the couple lost a minimum of 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths in the move. It’s difficult to say why the two downsized, but maybe the 1953 property held other features, that caught the reality queen’s interest.

The age of the home is also under debate with several sources listing it as built in 1953 and others noting its conception as the 1960s. All sources agree that the home resides at Dume Drive in Malibu and that it has vaulted ceilings in the living room, custom sliding doors to the deck and bamboo floors.

Pictures of the kitchen reveal avocado cabinets with some of the countertops granite-like and others of butcher’s block. While the listing information show the home remodeled, the colors and design in the kitchen smacks of the 1960s.

Perhaps that’s why Tori loved it. It might remind her of “Paw paws” home or other near and dear relative who was a decade behind in décor. Others think it might be dozed in the future for a larger more glamorous structure befitting the reality star she is.

Jennifer Lopez Buys Hamptons Real Estate

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 7[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bathrooms: 9[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 14,000 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Price: $17,995,000[/one_fourth_last]

[box] After the much-publicized separation of Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony, the final confirmation they’ll be no second thought reconciliation came when she bought a home 3,000 miles away from him, in the Hamptons.[/box]

The house was a steal, by high dollar standards, at just under $18 million. It initially went on the market for $19,500,000 two years ago. The sprawling 14,000 square foot home came from the mind of the brilliant designer/architect, John Laffey and constructed by Richard Perillo of East End Builders. It has sprawling 14,000 square feet of living space with seven bedrooms and nine and a half baths. Plus there’s an elevator for those who don’t wish to take the stairs.

The palatial estate sprawls over two acres on Long Island in the quaint town of Water Mill. It includes such amenities as limestone floors, Venetian plastered walls and even a tub completely carved out of a block of marble. The luxury property has a view of Mecox Bay and
one feature of the entry way is a spiral staircase going up a two-story rotunda.

The fully shingled house has hardwood floors throughout and plain white walls, but that doesn’t stop it from looking spectacular. It has a living room surrounded by glass doors and large expansive windows leaving only the framework between you and the outdoors. It also includes a large fireplace and a coffered ceiling in one of the premier living spaces. The coffered ceilings in this area are not disturbing (unlike the one featured in Jonah Hill’s kitchen); in fact, due to the expanse of the room, and geometric design, they fit perfectly.

The kitchen is all white, save the flooring and stainless steel stoves and hoods. (Yes, there are two of them.) All of the cupboards have a Shaker look but instead of the natural wood, they are white. However, you’ll find the gold standard of luxury in the master bathroom, where you have a hand carved marble bathtub, reminiscent of the old claw tubs, but without the claws of course.

Outside there’s a spa that offers a fireplace with a gigantic chimney. Atop the front of the chimney there’s a wide screen TV for the viewing pleasures of those in the spa. These are just a few of the amenities of Jennifer Lopez’s newly purchased home. It is impressive and breathtaking but…well, $18,000,000? That’s a big number for you and I, but probably chump change for our girl.

Harrison Ford And Calista Flockhart Buy Brentwood Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $12,650,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 13,767 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 7[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 9[/one_fourth_last]

[box] Even Indiana Jones and Ali McBeal changed their minds occasionally, so it’s quite logical the actor and actress that played those roles should do likewise. As the couple sells their ritzy New York apartment and purchases a fabulous mansion in the Los Angeles suburbs.[/box]

Earlier in the year, Harrison Ford and his wife Calista Flockhart put their New York home on the market for $16 million dollars, stating the property cost in the neighborhood of $14,000 a month to maintain as the reason for their decision. The decision to sell occurred several months after purchasing their Brentwood, California home for $12,650,000, approximately 20 percent lower than the original asking price of $15,895,000.

Who can blame them, Ford already owns several other properties and Flockhart has one her own home, now a rental. His properties include a 3,530 square foot home in Encino, an 1,855 square foot home in Rancho Park, another home designed by architect Gerard Colcord also in Brentwood and an 800-acre ranch in Jackson, Wyoming.

This newer, but not brand new addition to the real estate collection sports 13,767 square feet of living space, almost enough to hold the other homes in Ford’s real estate portfolio. It has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Obviously one for each bedroom and two for guests. There are six fireplaces and a cute detached cottage in the back with a screening room and guest suite.

Glancing at the front of the house you’ll notice an attached three-car garage that faces a driveway/turnaround court on the left of the main entrance. This layout is reminiscent of many ‘Middle American’ homes where snowfall makes easy access to the garage mandatory. The house is a mixture between traditional and colonial architecture with multiple wings of rooms.

The interior is alive with interesting rooms and traditional architecture that all mixes well for a spectacular look. The winding wooden staircase in the foyer is breathtaking but not as stunning as the huge living room encompassed with windows. There’s even enough room for a grand piano, if anyone in the house plays.

The deep rich hues of the wood paneled library make this a ‘Harrison Ford’ room in contrast to the light airy powder blue dining room that probably drew Calista’s attention. The kitchen has a huge island and offers shaker style glass fronted white cabinets, a glass enclosed breakfast nook/patio and an adjoining family room where you can watch the beauty of Mother Nature while sitting next to a roaring fire.

All in all, this home is absolutely spectacular and despite its casual ‘home town’ exterior, this property is extremely lavish inside and out.

Taylor Swift Buys Beverly Hills Real Estate

[one_fourth]Price: $3,550,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 2,826 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 3[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 4[/one_fourth_last]

[box] Happy belated birthday to Taylor Swift who has plunked down $3.5 million dollars to lay claim to a relatively modest home in Beverly Hills. No Clampett mansion for this country songbird. The 3 BR/4 bath house is going to be a laid back retreat for the singer whenever she happens to be staying in the LA area.[/box]

This makes the young country star the proud owner of at least 3 multi-million dollar real estate properties at the ripe age of 21.

Just two years ago the then 19 year old Swift shelled out close to $2 million to snag an upscale Nashville penthouse, and earlier this year the pop chart cutie purchased yet another $1million+ home in Tennessee for her parents.

Her latest real estate purchase is located in Franklin Canyon where everyone’s privacy is respected by all residents. The homes are mostly low key in appearance and blend into the wooded landscapes. However one can assume that the interior of Swift’s home will be as elegantly furnished and appointed as any high-end LA estate.

There is a gated driveway (naturally) that brings you to the main house. The driveway also keeps the garage and guest house separated from the main residence. At the present time there is gravel in the driveway, but who knows if Swift will appreciate this ‘noisy’ reminder of her ‘country’ roots.

Can you believe that this LA house was actually described as a Cape Cod Colonial? I mean really-a Cape Cod style house in chic Beverly Hills? Guess this down home, relaxing (East Coast) home design really tugged at Taylor’s heart strings.

The lot is almost 1.5 acres in size which is highly desirable in the Beverly Hills area. In fact 1.5 acres is considered an ‘estate’ in almost any residential area of California.

Swift will enjoy a formal dining room (that includes a bay window stretching from ceiling to floor); a kitchen featuring wood and glass design elements; and a living room with an eye-catching fireplace. There is also a smaller room that has been designed for use as a combination office/library. For entertaining purposes Taylor will be able to make good use of the built in bar area that sits 3.

The covered terrace in the back yard features a fireplace, and there are some brick stairs that offer access to the tree lined hills that are at the rear of the property. All things considered this young country/pop songstress is definitely proving that she is still ‘a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll’. You show the world the true fierceness of girl power, Miss Swift!

Facebook Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg Buys Home in Palo Alto

[one_fourth]Price: $7,000,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 5,617 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 5[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 6[/one_fourth_last]

[box] Facebook mogul, Mark Zuckerberg, has now stepped up to the plate and hit a home run as a new property owner. At least this is what the rumor mills are now saying, and it appears that these latest rumors of home-ownership are ‘right on the money’.[/box]

Instead of continuing as a long-time tenant in the state of California Zuckerberg has apparently given the ‘old heave-ho’ to the idea of paying rent for someone else’s property. Don’t feel sorry for him though because that ‘old rental property’ is now being leased for almost 8K per month.

Mr. Zuckerberg has invested a smidgen of those massive Facebook dollars in some quality Palo Alto real estate. His new digs reportedly contain more than 5000 square feet of living space and his new house boasts 5 bedroom as well as 5 full baths. There are even 2 half-bathrooms for guests or emergencies.

The home that purportedly belongs to Mr. Zuckerberg is in the Crescent Park area of Palo Alto which means that the Facebook billionaire only has to drive 10-15 minutes to get to work. This was certainly a big factor in his real estate decision.

The property closing was finalized in March and the final price tag is said to be right at $7 million. The home itself appears to be very low-key and the structure dates back to 1903. A huge veranda, outdoor barbecue area and swimming pool are just a few of the features that can be viewed from a distance.

Privacy has been assured with the addition of security walls and thick hedges. The interior of the house includes an entrance hall, family room, enormous dining room and formal living room. Heated floors have been added during an earlier renovation and the kitchen has also been equipped with the finest in high-tech appliances.

The only drawback is that the former owners were still seen in residence recently which means that Zuckerberg may need to send them a ‘poke’ message via his Facebook network.
