Kevin Durant Lists Washington Home

[one_fourth]Price: $2,799,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 5,910 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 5[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 6[/one_fourth_last]

Thinking he’d stay a while, Kevin Durant bought his home in Seattle, WA, the first year he signed with the Seattle SuperSonics, 2007 when the home was still under construction. He did remain with the team, but they did the switch-a-roo and became the Oklahoma Thunder, with Durant tagging along for the ride. Of course, that was about the time that real estate bottomed out dramatically. Evidently, Durant either made a business decision to keep the property until recovery or he hoped to return to the area one day, either way, his 5,910 square foot $2,799,000 home in Seattle just hit the market.

The home is as unassuming as the owner is. Durant, known for his hard work and kind spirit, with no razzle-dazzle or trash talk, reflected his personality in the purchase of this Seattle property. Unlike many of the celebrity or pro homes, the home displays high quality and richness without a lot of flash, again, much like the owner. It’s conservative and reserved, just as Durant is, almost to the point of being subtly boring, but a good boring—again, similar to the old soul 22 year old, Durant.

There are five bedrooms, six baths, five fireplaces and a hot tub and spa. The house has a movie theatre, a gazebo and a wet bar as special amenities. The kitchen is the usual U shape with a huge island in the center. It offers tan marble tops, light tan slate floors and maple traditional cupboards, some with glass doors. While there’s no central draw for the area, it looks formal enough to serve the most prestigious of guests and still comfortable enough for a family meal.

The doorways are tall, probably part of the deal-maker for Durant, which makes the ceilings look a bit lower in some rooms. No matter which room you enter, you realize it offers that same feeling of true quality and stability, even if it doesn’t sport the latest hot color or style. Much like its owner, often considered the nicest player in basketball, it has a lasting quality that people will still desire, even when the next trend in home design is just a memory.

Mary Kay’s Dallas Mansion Hits Market For $3.3M

[one_fourth]Price: $3,300,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 11,874 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 6[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 8[/one_fourth_last]

If you’re prepared to write a $3.3 million dollar check for this Dallas, Texas estate, then get ready to park your pink Cadillac in the driveway of the home that used to belong to Mary Kay Ash, the Queen of Cosmetics. This pink palace is loaded with extras but you have to enjoy the color or it’s just not right for you.

The house comes replete with an entryway that would rival the Taj Mahal, lined with white columns against the pink backdrop and guarded by stone lions, the tall glass entryway welcomes all, peasant, pundit or prince.

The foyer is more of a lobby than a foyer in this 11,874 square foot home. Even the Queen of Cosmetics thought the house was too big and eventually moved back into her previous home, leaving the house to someone else with a penchant for pink. The foyer has a semi-spiraling staircase with white wrought-iron rails, a marble floor and white plush carpet on the stairs. The color? You guessed it—pale pink.

One of the sitting rooms breaks from the pink tradition of the home, with wooden walls, ceilings and hardwood flooring. The design of the embossed wooden walls and the high slightly arching windows is reminiscent of a castle in the times of King Arthur. Alas, there is no pink here.

The formal dining area, just off the foyer, follows through with the pink wall theme, but has high arched windows and white woodwork so it isn’t quite as noticeable. There are arches everywhere you look in this home. The hallway is a massively long arch with white pillars at the side. The windows are arched and even the entry ways to the rooms are arched. The hall at the top of the stairs, however, is not surrounded by an arched railing—that railing is arced.

Luckily, the kitchen is traditional—but big. It offers white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and an adjoining two story glass walled breakfast nook. If there’s any pink, it certainly is hidden.

Some people note that the theme of pink was taken to an extreme when they heard reports of a pink quartz toilet in the boudoir. However, if you look pretty in pink and have $3.3 million to throw around, this excessively pink mansion is up for sale.

Gordon Ramsay Buys Los Angeles Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $6,750,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 7,413 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 5[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 6[/one_fourth_last]

Chef Gordon Ramsay, star of four reality shows, most of which have the word Hell or Kitchen or both in the title, is now the proud owner of some U.S. property, located in Los Angeles, California. While he might have screamed about the price a little, or perhaps he only rants and raves on the telly for ratings, he forked over a cool $6.75 million on the 7,413 square foot house in the Bel Air Crest neighborhood that sits pristinely on a one-acre lot. He’ll be sharing his time between his home across the pond in foggy England and the sunny climate of Southern California. Since Ramsay spends much of his time filming in the U.S., having a home for his family to stay seems a logical decision.

While the house sounds expansive, Ramsay, his wife and four children will have just enough bedrooms in the five bedroom, six bathroom home. They will however, have expansive common areas, a huge pool and a hot tub, but there’s no additional guest room, in case your considered visiting a while.

When you think of Ramsay and a new house, you immediately wonder what the kitchen looks like. It’s huge with commercial grade stainless steel appliances, a darker hardwood floor and pristine white everywhere else, except the dark wood breakfast/storage island in the center.

The house has a dramatic view of the ocean, city and canyon, with an outdoor lounging area to enjoy the view. There are also ample patio doors, windows and balconies to aid in that endeavor. The home, immaculately decorated, offers fireplaces in several rooms, a family gaming area and ample space in every bedroom. The master bedroom is complete with a huge bathroom that would make any public facility look inadequate.

Chef Ramsay isn’t the only celebrity affiliated with the home. The architect, Ken Ungar created the original design for this 2003 house. Ungar is a well-known designer of many celebrity homes and has a multitude of awards. This home design should have brought him another because it’s clean lines and livable space combine perfectly with the setting and exterior attractions. There’s nothing gaudy or overly dramatic about the home, it just looks lush and friendly.

Melanie Brown Lists Tarzana House At $3.45M

[one_fourth]Price: $3,450,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 8,204 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 5[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 8[/one_fourth_last]

Maybe Scary Spice was always screaming, loud and a little less than refined, but you couldn’t tell it from her elegant 8,200 square foot home recently put on the market. In fact, it’s more like a home you’d expect for Posh Spice. The couple paid $3.159 million for this beautiful mansion in Tarzana, California less than two years ago. Then they put another million into when they added another detached cottage style building on the property containing a state of the art movie theatre, a mirrored gym, game room, gym, and wet bar. Why would Melanie Brown and Stephen Belafonte be selling so quickly? The couple may love the home, but they’re not too fond of one another and decided to call it quits.

The rooms in this French style mansion have beautiful Venetian chandeliers, marble or hard wood floors and look very continental. For those who want to watch how they eat, the dining room sports mirrored walls. There are huge his and her walk in closets, which rival the size of most people’s bedrooms. The bathrooms have the look of a posh hotel with one having a double window that opens to view the skyline of the city.

Of course, as with any mansion, there are plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms. You’ll find five bathrooms and eight bedrooms in this mansion. All of which are large and spacious. Some of the bedrooms are more ornate than others are, but all are contain the French decorating style, even the rooms for Angel, Phoenix, Giselle and new little Madison, the children are replete with that décor.

One big draw for the mansion is the outdoor living area, which is nicer than most of us enjoy inside the house. It offers a dining room, complete with a chandelier, an open but covered kitchen area, a large outdoor living room and a pool area. Of course, the no living room, indoors or outdoors, is complete without a huge flat-screen TV and this one is no different.

There’s a stone fire pit area for those cool nights also sitting atop the huge flat stone patio. Upon looking at it, it seems as though this would be the perfect place for any outdoorsman to set up camp. Okay, change that to “any outdoorsman who wants five star accommodations.” Therefore, if you have a box of marshmallows and a few million lying around, you might want to check out this prime piece of real estate.

Chris Paul Buys Famous Bel Air Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $8,500,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 12,184 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 8[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 10.5[/one_fourth_last]

While most people have to prove their income before getting a mortgage, it probably wasn’t necessary when Chris Paul bought Avril Lavigne’s former home, if a mortgage was necessary. His $68 million dollar four-year contract was more than enough to cover the $8.5 million dollar price tag of the Bel Air mansion. While unloading the mansion, Avril also unloaded other items in her life the same day, including her boyfriend Brody Jenner.

Even though the LA Clipper’s point guard, Paul paid $8.5 million for the Mediterranean-style home, he got a bargain. Lavigne previously had the property listed at $9.5 million for six months and dropped the price to meet Paul’s offer. The home is in a gated community where the median home prices run a roughly $1,722,000.

The house has eight bedrooms and ten baths while situated on slightly over a half acre of land. The new mansion has 12,184 square feet, just enough to move about a bit. It also has a 10-car garage, so there will always be plenty room for his cars, regardless of how many lawn mowers, basketballs or other items Paul stores there.

Of course, there’s a swimming pool outside, it’s right after the covered outdoor living area, which comes complete with tiled floor and a fireplace, just in case there’s a little evening breeze. You can use the Jacuzzi if you don’t care to swim. There is also a barbecue area complete with a dining table.

Going inside, you’ll find the extra amenities no home should be without, such as a wine cellar, staff quarters and a gym with a sauna. Guests are greeted in the two-story foyer. If they manage to make it to the kitchen, they’ll find themselves surrounded by a huge L-shaped countertop/breakfast bar that seats five. Separating the bar from the actual kitchen work area is an island for food preparation with storage and a sink. Of course, there are state of the art appliances. What mansion would be complete without them?

There’s a second kitchen in the home. This one is smaller and very private. It’s in the master bedroom, along with a fireplace, custom walk-in closets and two baths. There’s also a patio off the master suite. If you’ve seen pictures of the home, you might recognize it, since it was once featured on the reality series, “Meet the Barkers” and owned by Travis Barker, drummer for Blink-182.

john-smoltz-house

John Smoltz Lists $7.2M Geogia Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $7,200,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 18,265 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 10[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 12[/one_fourth_last]

If you’re the athletic type who’s fit enough to carry a very heavy wallet, you can lighten that wallet’s weight to the tune of $7.2 million and purchase the home of the famous Atlanta Braves legend, John Smoltz. Of course, for that price, you’d expect more than your everyday mansion and you’d certainly receive it. This 18,265 square foot mansion located just South of Atlanta, comes complete with 10 bedrooms and 10 full baths with four half baths and sits on a massive 22 acres with goodies for every fit athlete.

The house contains a personal gym, sauna and has basketball and tennis courts, football and baseball fields, trail for the jogger, an 18-hole golf course and a stocked fishing pond. Don’t think that just because it offers all those amenities, there’s nothing for the couch potato. Besides the luxurious decorating scheme, which includes marble and hardwood floors, with vaulted ceilings and his & hers closets, there’s a movie theatre complete with a concession stand. However, at this writing, there’s no word out on how much he charges for Goobers.

The house also has a studio apartment and eight-car garage. It includes an outdoor entertainment area complete with a lounge area, wet bar and kitchen. The entryway on the outside is as magnificent as the foyer on the inside, will high stone columns and arches accented with wood ceilings and chandeliers. The back of the house also has a covered area for sitting with the finest of design and material.

The interior shows taste and elegance, except for the draperies in the breakfast nook (which is by the way, bigger than most dining rooms), but that’s just personal preference, not a décor fax pas. The décor isn’t what you’d expect an athlete to have, but it is dazzling, stately and elegant from the sitting area you find when you exit the winding staircase, to the scrumptious open space kitchen.

If you’re on the edge whether to purchase this prime piece of real estate, keep in mind the number of bathrooms. You could use one of the porcelain fixtures a day in each bath and half bath and never have to use the same one twice for two weeks. That fact alone may be worth the high price tag.

Elin Nordegren Demolishes Oceanfront Mansion: Bug Infestation & Building Code

The ex-Mrs. Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren released all her fury about the extramarital affairs of ex-hubby Tiger by buying a $12 million dollar mansion in North Palm Beach, Fla, and then demolishing it. Of course, the $100 million ex-hubby paid her as a settlement, left lots of room in the budget to break and rebuild.

What is now a hole in the ground with surrounding port-a-potties and bulldozers once held a huge 17,178 square foot home. It had a 7-car garage, with 8 bathrooms, multiple fireplaces and even an elevator. There’s speculation whether Ms. Nordegren should have demolished this 1930s mansion or whether the settlement will be enough, even with child support, after she builds her dream house.

While some say it was worth purchasing the house because of the cost of the land with a beachfront in that area and that taking the route of demolishing the home might be the cheapest when compared to the upkeep, it still is a shame to wipe out the historic building with the swipe of a wrecking ball. However, new information revealed the mansion had a termite infestation and was out of compliance with the current safety code for hurricanes. So, if that is true, let the wrecking ball fly. Just make sure you treat the soil and rid it of those pesky critters before you start building.

Either way, most agreed that she probably stayed within close distance to Tiger, approximately 10 miles, for the children, either as part of the divorce settlement or simply as a good mother. Reports are suggesting that the house to be built is strikingly similar in both style and size. Word has it that every worker had to sign a confidentiality agreement to protect her privacy.

Until the new home is complete, Ms. Nordegren is staying close by in a rented condo that’s also on the beach. While she also maintains a home in her country of origin, Stockholm, that’s only accessible by boat, it’s doubtful she would spend all the time it will take to rebuild her mansion, that far away from the children’s father.

alexis-bellino

Alexis Bellino’s Fab New California Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $5,00,000 ish[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 7,146 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 5[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 5.5[/one_fourth_last]

There’s something amazing about celebrities, including reality TV celebrities, which is a whole “nuther” category in my book. No matter how broke they are, or how financially ruined, they still land on their feet and live in the lap of luxury. Just one year after the bank started foreclosure proceedings, forcing reality show star of “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Alexis and Jim Bellino to short sell their property for $3 million, incurring an equal amount of loss and not covering the $4 million plus mortgage, they’re living in new quarters. On top of that, Jim’s company also filed bankruptcy.

Living in a new house is reasonable, unless that home costs more than the one they lost due to lack of funds. On the reunion show of “Real Housewives of Orange County,” Alexis noted they were buying a new one and this time paying cash. The new home listed for several prices with a range between $4,999,999 and $5,900,000. Did they buy the property?

Some speculators note that since the records online show it belongs to the original seller, they may have simply leased it. However, there often is a lag between a closing and the updating of online records. So, they mystery remains. If they did buy the property, this writer wants to find out how they managed and whether they keep a magic genie captive in a bottle.

The home is a 7,146 square foot Mediterranean-style five bedroom, five and a half bath home. It has three levels and even an elevator for those adverse to any physical activity. There’s an access to a private beach, an eight-car garage and a state of the art kitchen. Each room comes complete with an ocean view, except the windowless media room on the lower level.

While the home is attractive, the mystery remains. Did Alexis and Jim buy the home or lease it? If they bought it, how can they afford an even more expensive house than the one they lost to a short sale and almost foreclosure?

Tom Brady & Gisele’s Brentwood Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $20,00,000 ish[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 22,000 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 8[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 14[/one_fourth_last]

Tom Brady, New England Patriot quarterback, his wife Gisele Caroline Bündchen, super rich super model and spokesperson for the UN Environment Programme and baby boy, Benjamin Rein Brady have a new home. The 22,000-square-foot mansion that would make Conrad Hilton turn green with envy has plenty of room for Brady’s other son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan.

It offers eight bedrooms, a weight room, wine cellar, a lagoon-shaped pool complete with a spa and even has a covered bridge that connects the two main wings of the home. Of course, what home is complete without a butler’s room and gallery? All that is missing in this house is a counting room for the couple to count their bulging bank accounts.

While there’s no final figure on the cost of the mansion ($20M rumor), the 3.75 acre lot in the exclusive Brentwood area cost the couple $11 million. Some estimates report the construction project to soar around $20 million. Which is fitting for a home with such illustrious neighbors, “I’ll be back,” terminator Schwarzenegger, who secured the Brentwood family home in his recent divorce and Heidi Klum, German model and television host?

So how does the Mrs., with her official environmental position explain away such a huge home that is sure to use more energy than a neighborhood in Queens during the winter? Gisele explained they made certain the plans included everything to promote the environment, such as the use of solar energy, a rainwater recovery system, energy-efficient lighting and appliances, recycling programs, sustainable building materials and a waste reduction program.

Of course, if they fill up that new six-car garage and use the elevator frequently, much of that savings may go down the drain. The good news is that if they keep the thermostat set at 65 degrees, there won’t be any energy used in the winter in the Los Angeles home. The bad news is summer’s going to be a killer to cool the monolithic mansion and Gisele may have some “splainin” to do for the folks at the UN.

barbi-benton-house

Barbi Benton Selling Lavish Bel Air Mansion

[one_fourth]Price: $11,950,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 11,608 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 8[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 14[/one_fourth_last]

Barbi Benton, who spent nine years as the Playboy bunny love connection for Hugh Hefner from 1969 to 1976, and her real estate tycoon husband since 1979, George Gradow, are selling their Los Angeles mansion that’s just of Mulholland Drive for $11,950,000. It’s not the first time the property has been on the market and the price has bobbed up and down each time.

In 2008, the price was $17,500,000. Then put back on the market for $11,950,000 in July 2001, but the price dropped to $10,950,000 in October and then suddenly raised again back to $11,950,000. Despite all the fluctuation, it’s a real bargain at any one of the selling prices.

This dream home is 11,608 square feet of impeccable decorating and design in the main house, with additional square footage in a detached 2 bedroom/2 bath guesthouse and another 2 bedroom/2 bath residence for the staff. The total square footage is 15,270, which includes 12 bedrooms, 8 in the main house and 18 bathrooms, with 14 in the main house. It seems the couple planned carefully for their senior years with plenty of bathrooms close at hand.

The house’s exterior is in winter-white and glass with the geometric lines of the architecture creating the interest. It opens to a huge foyer, reminiscent of a hotel lobby that offers twin staircases set on each side of a bowed second floor balcony overlooking the foyer. The size of the living room dwarfs oversized furniture and large potted plants. Again, the architecture creates interest and design with the décor adding just a splash of color to the white palette of walls.

Even the bedrooms offer a surprise with glass enclosed closets within the walk in closet, which further protects the clothing and allows the owner to see the selection before opening the doors. Even the shoes have their own class faced closet racks.

With the mansion so big and each room packed with features, it’s difficult to note them all in a short blurb. Suffice to say, every woman and man could feel comfortable in this house, even though it’s large and spacious enough to be a hotel. The design and décor are a hit with this writer, from the outside landscaping to the Alice in Wonderland bedroom of clouds.
