Daryl Hannah Lists Malibu House For $5M

[one_fourth]Price: $4,995,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 1,540 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 2[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 2[/one_fourth_last]

The statuesque blond who starred in “Splash” and “Blade Runner,” Daryl Hannah, known for her environmental and animal rights activism is selling her hidden hippie style complex back in the hillsides of Malibu. This area is filled with the drama of Mother Nature and Hanna added to the beauty of the landscape with tweaks to the already pristine area.

For a mere $4,995,000 you can purchase your own little slice of secluded paradise replete with a 1927 river-stone hunting cabin and the second, a corrugated-metal clad building that once was a nursery. While the homes are small, they’re quaint and peaceful looking, with a porch for viewing the great outdoors and planters hanging on the porch of the metal-clad building and a pristine moss deck adding to the appearance to the stone hunting lodge.

The river-stone hunting lodge has radiant heat flooring, a Japanese soaking tub and an indoor/outdoor shower. The houses are not the feature here, however. Even though they do have some very interesting extras, the real star of this show is the land and the landscaping. There are several gardens scattered throughout the 17.6 acre hideaway. Some include a native garden, a vegetable garden and an exotic garden. There’s also a vineyard and an orchard so you’re never too far from succulent fresh fruit on a hot afternoon.

The acreage came through two purchases. The first in early 2000s for $550,000 brought 7.6 acres and the second purchase for $775,000 made Ms. Hannah the proud owner of the 10 acres, in 2001. Those purchases were for the land, the lodge and what was once a nursery—which explains all the gardens and landscaping.

The property is solar powered, which is only right, considering Ms. Hannah’s passion for the environment. There’s a live oak grove with a teepee in the middle. However, the teepee may be going with Ms. Hannah to her other home in Colorado. There’s something for everyone who loves the peaceful outdoors, with streams and waterfalls, a palm grove, pastureland and an abundance of wildlife, this is one of the few celebrity homes isn’t for the image but demonstrates true tranquility.

Tori Spelling And Dean Buy Home in Malibu

[one_fourth]Price: $2,400,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 2,300 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 3[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 2.5[/one_fourth_last]

Just like actors are replaced after a few seasons on television shows, the house on the 2008-2011 reality show, “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood” has seen its last season. While the couple, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, purchased the property in 2008 for $2.945 million, they sold the property for $2.5 million in December and moved into their new Malibu house they purchased this fall. Many of the avid fans of the program were sad to see the home leave the program since it was one of the best actors and solid characters on the show.

The new $2.4 million home is in Malibu and offers far less room for the couple with a growing family. While it has 1.75 acres for expansion that has organic gardens and native landscaping, the square footage of the living quarters dropped from 6,718 square feet to 2,052 to 2300 square feet, depending on where you gather your facts.

Some sources show the new home at 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths while others show 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. Either way, the couple lost a minimum of 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths in the move. It’s difficult to say why the two downsized, but maybe the 1953 property held other features, that caught the reality queen’s interest.

The age of the home is also under debate with several sources listing it as built in 1953 and others noting its conception as the 1960s. All sources agree that the home resides at Dume Drive in Malibu and that it has vaulted ceilings in the living room, custom sliding doors to the deck and bamboo floors.

Pictures of the kitchen reveal avocado cabinets with some of the countertops granite-like and others of butcher’s block. While the listing information show the home remodeled, the colors and design in the kitchen smacks of the 1960s.

Perhaps that’s why Tori loved it. It might remind her of “Paw paws” home or other near and dear relative who was a decade behind in décor. Others think it might be dozed in the future for a larger more glamorous structure befitting the reality star she is.

Pam Anderson Malibu Beach House Rental

[one_fourth]Price: $75,000/month[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 2,650 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 3[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 2.5[/one_fourth_last]

Pamela Anderson is going to become a landlord. She’s put her Malibu Beach house up for rent at the price of $20,000 for a week or $75,000 a month. So clean out the couch cushions, break the piggy bank and dig through those jacket pockets and old purses and you might find enough to rent it for a day, or at least an hour and a half. She’s traveling so much these days and wants someone else to enjoy her “masterpiece,” as she calls it, and have a slow motion romp on the beach. (Remember the opening of “Bay Watch.”)

She listed her home on the Vacation Rental by Owner website (VRBO) noting it was pet friendly and the price included housekeeping services and a vegetarian chef for a little extra moola. Anderson decorated her home in honey-toned teak wood and white…just about everywhere, with a few accent colors thrown in for good measure. The photo quality shown is poor and it’s difficult to tell the dog from the bedding on one picture. Luckily, he has dark eyes and a mouth or you’d think the bed was unmade.

Despite her glitzy, blond appearance, it seems Anderson is a bit of a designer herself. She’s had many homes featured in top architectural publications. In fact, she co-designed this one with green architects Chryssanthou, Inc. From what you can make out from the pictures, she and her cohorts did create a beautiful beach house.

The home is in a gated community with 24-hour security, so you don’t have to worry about sightseers interrupting your vacation time. The exterior of the home and flooring, including the staircases and walls are all teak. The design is open space with the living room and kitchen blending as one.

Don’t worry about getting your money’s worth in the kitchen area, as every thing from the appliances to the cabinetry is top of the line. In fact, she even has push-activated drawers and cabinets.

There are a number of other amenities available for the renter. While it might be a kick to say you lived in Pamela Anderson’s home, played her baby grand and sat in the sauna watching television, even for just a week, your friends won’t believe you when you tell them you spent a few moments in the wigwam. The one that’s right next to the fig and avocado tree in the herb and vegetable garden. It would make a great tale for years to come, but for that privilege, there’s also a high price tag.

Howie Mandel Selling $7.2M Malibu Estate

[one_fourth]Price: $7,250,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 5,936 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 5[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 5.5[/one_fourth_last]

Game show host/comedian and germ phobic Howie Mandel is selling his Cape Cod-inspired home for a cool $7.25 million. Even though the records show he purchased the property in 2006 for $3 million, he tore down the existing home (too many germs?) and replaced it with a 5,936-square foot home designed by Douglas Burdge containing 5 bedrooms and 5 and a half baths.

A large detached guest/pool house also on the property has another bedroom and 1 and a half baths. With the elongated pool extending in front of the guest house, it looks like a miniature Nantucket style Taj Mahal.

Clean and airy is the best description of the interior of this home. The design leaves no room crowded or closed in. The décor is interestingly pristinely white with accent colors and wood floors making the room come alive and less antiseptic. What else would you expect for a germ-a-phobe who had the house custom designed? Luckily, it doesn’t smack of sterile or “rental unit” with all the white but gives the Malibu beach feel to the Nantucket exterior.

Even the outside has a clean, pristine appearance with a sandy tan exterior accented in white and clean lines everywhere. The stone chimneys are also in light toned natural stone to add to the clean appearance. It contains a massive natural stone fireplace, a spa, a built-in barbecue center and fire pit in addition to the pool, landscaping and a view of the distant mountains behind the Santa Monica Bay.

Both the family room and living room contain a fireplace and have a delightful view of the ocean and pristine lawn. For the living room, you have to look past the open aired breakfast area to see the view, but it isn’t impeded by the empty room and quite dramatic. The open railed second floor adds to the concept of freedom and gives the already spacious lower levels even more space and depth.

Despite his celebrity persona, Howie Mandell wasn’t clowning around when he approved the design on this magnificent Malibu property. It is well designed, tasteful and would be a pleasure for any family to own.

Matthew Perry’s Malibu House Hits Market

[one_fourth]Price: $13,500,000[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Size: 3,677 sq ft[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth]Bedrooms: 4[/one_fourth]

[one_fourth_last]Bathrooms: 5.5[/one_fourth_last]

[box] Matthew Perry, another “Friends” millionaire who’s done a whole lot more since the series, is putting another of his properties up for sale. While there may be speculation at his net worth, this author’s guess is that owning several properties just isn’t financially sound, particularly when other investments are flushing down the potty.[/box]

Maybe the decision came after his recent stint in rehab, his ongoing battle with attaining an optimum level of sobriety and decided the pressure to maintain so much real estate wasn’t in his best interest at the moment. In related real estate news: Matthew Perry recently sold one property at the Sierra Towers for $2,850,000 just a mere $145,000 below asking price, a good deal in a slow real estate market. Now, he’s putting his fabulous 3,677 square foot home in Malibu up for sale. Of course, he still has other real estate.

Perry purchased the home back in the spring of 2005 for a mere $6,550,000 and now plans to sell it for $13,500,000. It sits on 2.32 acres of prime land and has four bedrooms and five and a half baths. The asking price is almost double the purchase price, so the sale may be just another way to pad his retirement fund and remove some of the financial burden of maintaining several residences.

The Pier House, the name of the home he’s selling (When a house has its own name, you know it’s high dollar.) is noted as an architectural statement located right above the Malibu Pier. It offers multiple outdoor play areas with sliding glass doors in the living areas giving quick access.

There’s a huge viewing room containing theatre projection and an exceptionally comfortable-looking couch for ample seating, plus a bed in the back… a questionable decorating decision at best. Tasteful décor and architectural intricacy grace the other rooms with an open air feeling that most people would give up their first-born to experience in their living accommodations. In fact, the bathroom, containing stone walls, an open feeling glass shower also has a bird’s eye view of the ocean.

The house is gorgeous but the view and connection to the landscape is worth a minimum of the asking price, with the living accommodations thrown in free. It seems like Perry made good real estate decisions, even if not all his personal decisions were the wisest.
